Berkeley Law students rely on financial aid to realize their goals. Help us help them.
When I came to Berkeley Law in July, one of my first promises was to find a way to make it easier for qualified students to gain access to a law school education. Thanks to the generous support of two donors, I’m thrilled to introduce the “Access for All Challenge.” These donors have pledged $2 million toward improving our financial aid program — as long as we raise a like amount from other donors. They have promised to match every dollar that you contribute to this challenge up to 3:1.
With rising costs and diminished state support, financial aid is the cornerstone of our ability to keep legal education accessible to as many students as possible. While we already have a strong financial aid program, we must do better. We know there are students who want to benefit from a Boalt education—and who could become terrific lawyers—but won’t get the opportunity because they lack the financial means. That shouldn’t be acceptable at a public university.
Help our students realize their dreams by contributing today. Your gift will go directly to students who need it most. In the videos below, you can watch some of our outstanding students talk about what a Boalt education means to them, and alumni sharing why they choose to give to Boalt. I hope their stories inspire you to join us.
Thank you, as always, for your support,
Dean Sujit Choudhry

UPDATE: In just two short months—far more quickly than expected—we raised $1.7 million, which was matched by another $2 million from generous, anonymous donors. That’s nearly $4 million that will go directly to helping our students cover their law school expenses. We have secured an additional $1 million from one of the original donors to continue our Access for All campaign. Thank you again for your generous support.
